Bio

  • Mohammed Vawda has a background in Demography and takes interest in a variety of social and health science research. Before joining the School of Built Environment and Development Studies he was a researcher at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) as well as the Health, Economic, HIV/AIDS Research Division (HEARD). He has a Master’s in Population Studies and is currently completing a PhD at the School of Public Health Medicine and Nursing at UKZN.

Teaching Interest

  • Mohammed teaches  Fertility and Nuptiality and
  • Introduction to Population Studies on the Masters in Population Studies Programme.

Research Interest

  • Mohammed  has worked on issues such as: Non-Communicable Disease; Sexual and Reproductive Health; Substance Abuse; HIV/AIDS; Sexuality; Fertility; Mortality and Migration.
