He joined stand-up comedy heavyweights Carvin H Goldstone, Conrad Koch, Tumi Morake, Celeste Ntuli and Darren Maule onstage.

‘Comedy has always been therapy for me, especially with regard to holding up my father’s legacy. To share a stage with the comedy greats was an amazing experience that words fail to describe,’ he said.

‘The comedians on that line-up have Netflix specials, they have one-man shows and have performed on international stages. I have none of these… so being there was an honour and (gave me) a personal sense of achievement.’

Vawda had audiences in stitches, even revealing a hidden singing talent.

Considered one of the best of the new generation of Durban comedians, Vawda burst on to the comedy scene a couple years ago with his stand-out performances, clean-cut material and spot-on accents.

Audiences were treated to some new material that garnered bouts of laughter and a standing ovation.

Whether sharing hilarious stories about being a doctor (in Statistics), married life, living in South Africa or travelling abroad, this proudly South African Muslim man is on his way to becoming a household name.
