Magidimisha-Chipungu spent a month as a visiting scientist in one of the leading Italian departments and was also part of the Young Investigator Training Program – YITP that promotes scientific research and collaboration among internationally-recognised research institutions and encourages the mobility of young scientists.
She received financial support from the National Research Foundation (NRF) and Associazione di Fondazioni e Casse di Risparmio Spa (ACRI).
‘The scholarships are designed to support the participation of young researchers working in research centres abroad, in internationally-recognised research seminars and conferences organised by Italian research institutions,’ said Magidimisha-Chipungu. ‘The ultimate purpose is to enable young researchers to establish and consolidate relationships with Italian research centres, with the aim of developing common research projects.’
Apart from working closing with academics in Politechnico di Milano, she presented a paper titled Towards a 24 hour city: A comparative analysis of Italy, Milan and Durban SA.
