Those who attended were introduced to job hunting tips, CV writing, interview skills, work ethic, postgraduate requirements and application procedures.
Said the School’s Academic Development Officer Mr Lungelo Mhlongo: ‘The workshop offered students an opportunity to consider their future and also interact with various avenues of employment/career paths, training and opportunities for further education. This workshop benefitted those willing to work part time or full time, and also those wanting to further their studies to postgraduate level.’
Third year Community Development student Ms Londiwe Boyce said: ‘I am glad that students are being offered a workshop like this. Often we are so focused on lectures and exams, we forget that we have to one day apply for jobs. This workshop is a great initiative to offer support and guidance to students about the job market and how to prepare for interviews.’
Added housing student Mr Sicelo Ngcobo: ‘This workshop has opened my eyes to all the possible careers choices available to me and how to get a CV done correctly. I feel more confident about my skills now.’
